In January 1994, Daniel Baum, who had qualified as a Chartered Accountant seven years earlier, rented a desk and chair in someone’s office, determined to fulfill his dream of building an accountancy practice that is seen by its clients as a business confidant and adviser, forward thinking and market focused and capable of carrying out cost effective audits, valuable tax advice and pro active planning.
In January 2001, Geoffrey Hollander joined Daniel with a wealth of general practice experience, particularly in the property sector, and specialist knowledge of tax investigations. He was determined to bring this experience back to a small firm where he could combine the expertise gained at a top ten accounting firm, with the personal approach that is unique to smaller firms.
And so Cameron Baum, evolved, a two partner practice in London’s W1, providing its clients with an array of expertise, usually only found in larger practices, but maintaining close ties between partner and client and providing a top quality service.
Our success is based on our core values of being friendly, totally professional and in touch with our clients’ needs.
We take the time to understand our clients’ business and personal requirements, through regular contact and visiting their business, to get a good feel for what is going on.
We take a commercial approach and are not afraid to think ‘outside the box’, bringing our own business experiences and those we have learned from other clients, to help solve a problem.
We take the time to explain to clients what their accounts mean and what the tax implications of these are and we do so in a straightforward way; if clients don’t understand, then we have failed and not, as in so many other practices, the other way around.
We often enter fixed fee arrangements, so clients know exactly what they will pay, before the work starts. This applies both to one off assignments, like the annual audit and to year round management and tax advice. This not only provides peace of mind for our clients, but also encourages them to call us, without the fear of additional fees, thus allowing us to understand their needs and offering a solution.
The accounting practice that Daniel and Geoffrey were determined to provide, is called Cameron Baum.
